Loaded: A Message from the Editor Spring Loaded: A Message from the Editor | top Hello and welcome to Pezhead Monthly! I started this past month with a trip to Nashville, Indiana with my lovely wife to see the one and only "Weird Al" Yankovic in concert. I've seen him many times and it's always a great show. Weird Al has been a major influence on me as well as this publication, not only in the plethora of Pez song parodies I've written over the years, but also in a couple of cover images. Kicking things off in this issue of Pezhead Monthly is a cover image that's a Pez-flavored take on the poster for the horror movie "Leprechaun." The big feature in this month's issue is the song and video for PEZ IS LOVE! I was originally planning to publish it in last month's issue, to tie it in with Valentine's Day and what have you, but it wasn't quite ready and, as the kids say, life happens. But the extra time allowed me to fine-tune it, and now I am so happy to share it with you here. I hope you like it. Also in this issue is a rundown of my February scores, along with a bonus Pez song parody about the new Easter releases this year. There is also some Pez poetry, along with the glorious return of the Pez Almost-Quote. Lastly, I am proud to announce a brand-new archive page for Pezhead Monthly: St. Patrick's Day. See below for more details! As a reminder, just around the corner is the PIG4ALL Pez convention in Cincinnati, Ohio (3/30-4/1). Although I am unable to attend in person, I did register as absentee. I highly recommend that you register today if you haven't already done so. And for those of you who will be attending in person, I'm sorry I won't be able to share in the fun with you. Have a great time and I hope to see you soon down the road! Thanks as always for reading Pezhead Monthly. Take care and see you soon! Joe Durrant P.S. Did you miss last month's issue? You can still read it here. To search the full Pezhead Monthly archives, hop on over to the archive page, where you can browse by feature, Pez Poetry Slam, or issue. There's also a Google search bar to help you search the content across the site. And hey, maybe you would like to submit some words, photos, artwork, or videos to Pezhead Monthly to be featured in an upcoming issue? That would be great! Check out the submission details here.
I did not add a lot of Pez scores to my collection in February, but I am glad for what I found. From Pez.com, I scored the exclusive crystal pink Care Bear, also known as Cheer Bear. I also added the updated Cinderella to my cart, along with the new Gabby's Dollhouse set (Cakey Cat, Panda Paws, and Mercat). Out in the wild, at Walmart I found the new Easter Egg dispenser, which has a bee with a flower. Also at Walmart, I found one of the new minis, namely the blue bunny on a green stem. This is the counterpart to the regular-sized blue bunny on a green stem that was also released this year, and which I picked up in January. Here is a picture of all of my Pez scores. And as a bonus, here is a Pez song parody to celebrate the new Easter releases. Note that although the song references the new Easter Pez plushes (lamb, bunny, and chick), I have not picked these up yet. I'm hoping to find them in March! The Flower
and the Bee Let me tell you
'bout the flower and the bee Let me tell you
'bout the bunny that was seen When I walk into
the seasonal aisle Let me tell you
'bout the plushes on the shelf When I head on to
the Easter aisle Let me tell you
'bout the flower and the bee Let me tell you
'bout the bunny that was seen
The song "What Is Love?" by Haddaway is a classic 90s hit that is perhaps best known from the "Saturday Night Live" Roxbury Guys sketches featuring Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan. A few weeks ago, this song popped into my head. It's since showed up in a Super Bowl commercial and even in the grocery store as I was browsing the bread selection. Thinking about the Roxbury Guys, it's almost impossible to avoid tilting your head when you hear it. Wait a minute titling your head? Where have I heard that before? Perhaps in regards to a certain candy-holding toy? So when the question "What is Love?" is asked, the answer I kept coming back to was "Pez is Love!" And with that I took off writing a Pez song parody and making a Pez video. Without further ado, I am proud to present "PEZ IS LOVE!" The video is embedded below (and there's a direct link), followed by the lyrics if you want to follow along. I hope you enjoy it!

And finally, I am pleased to announce the newest Pezhead Monthly feature page: St. Patrick's Day! On this page are Pezhead Monthly pictures, poems, and more celebrating St. Patrick's Day and otherwise Irish. Some features from this month's issue are included, along with other ones from the archives. I hope to add to this page every year. Here is a picture of some of my St. Patrick's Day and other Irish-themed Pez. Enjoy!
