Spring Loaded: A Message From The Editor

Greetings, and welcome to the pages of Pezhead Monthly!

October was rather light for me on the Pez collecting front. The only new dispensers I got were the Thomas the Train tin set. I have to be honest, when I first saw the set I passed it up since I thought I had 2 out of the 3 dispensers in the set already. But then another Pezhead brought to my attention that there are actually 2 new dispensers in this set. Luckily I was able to find the set again, at Walmart for the nice low price of $10.

Last month's issue was quite robust, including the introduction of the Petey O'Jay archive page, Petey's Twitter page (follow him today to get tips on where to find the newest Pez releases!), and an updated Halloween page. This month tones it back a bit, but there is still plenty of Pez love to be had. For starters, there is a Pezzified version of the cover of the new President Bush memoir, Decision Points. Next, there is the return of a feature that has only appeared one other time, PezTube, where video odes to Pez are recognized. Also in this issue is some Pez Poetry and the Pez Almost-Quote of the Month. Lastly, since there's been a few Thanksgiving features in Pezhead Monthly over the year, there is now a Thanksgiving page where you can access all of them.

Take care and see you next month!

The Return of PezTube

A couple of years back I started a feature called Peztube, with the aim being to recognize video odes to Pez, in addition to the written and visual formats that are typically used in this publication. The first video featured a truly brilliant and mesmerising mix of stop-motion animation and an original, catchy song. It is a work of art that I occasionally revisit to this day. Then in April of this year I put together a video of my own to celebrate the many Batman Pez in my collection (a number that has grown considerably even since then).

It's been a while, so I thought I would revisit this feature with a few great Pez videos I discovered on YouTube. These are all family friendly, and links are posted directly after each video in case your Internet browser does not support embedded video.

This first video is another stop motion masterpiece. You may recognize the song, an 80s classic called "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow, and a perfect selection for a Pez video (and one that happens to be on any playlist I put together for the drive to a Pez convention). This video is a real treat. Be sure to visit the direct page and tell the creator what a fantastic job she did on this.

This next video is another nice example of stop motion. The idea is simple, but well executed: a Pezhead cycles through pictures of their collection, and includes quite the funky soundtrack too.

For our final video, did you know that the hit game show "Jeopardy!" once had an entire category devoted to Pez? Check out all of the answers and questions here (this video has embedding disabled).

If you have a Pez video of your own that you'd like to submit for a future issue of Pezhead Monthly, please feel free to do so. Or, if you just come across a Pez video made by someone else that you'd like to share, that's okay too.

Pez Poetry

Pez Haiku #110

Bums were voted out,
And more bums were voted in.
Oh well, time for Pez.

Pez Almost-Quote

"Get busy Pez dispensin' or get busy dyin'."

Gobble Gobble

And finally, I am proud to announce the all new Pezhead Monthly Thanksgiving page. It's not as robust as the recently updated Halloween page, but there are still several gratitude-related features from the Pezhead Monthly archives, including articles, poetry, a song, and more.

Don't be a jive turkey. Check it out today!
