Spring Loaded: A Message from the Editor top of page | cover page

After a very hectic October, I am proud to present a somewhat delayed November 2003 issue of Pezhead Monthly. From the lack of features this month, it may appear as if there is not a lot to offer. However, appearances can be deceiving. This is because history has been made in this issue. The largest ever Pez dispenser group interview is featured this month, thanks to the fantastic new set of Funky Faces Pez dispensers, who were kind enough to all sit down at once for the "Five Questions" feature. Of course, this made it "Thirteen Questions" this time around, but who's counting. In addition, there is some trusty Pez Poetry and the famed Pez Almost-Quote of the Month.

As one of the Pez poems this month alludes to, October was a gigantic month for me on the Pez collecting front. In one single day, my collection grew by 31 dispensers, as I found the entire set of Crystal Bugz, the entire set of the Emergency Heroes, and the entire set of Funky Faces. I also was given as a gift my first ever Pez factory error dispenser- a Santa without a face! Kind of freaky, yes, but what are you gonna do.

I hope you all have a wonderful November and a great Thanksgiving. See you next month!

October 24, 2003

A Wal-Mart store I've known for years
Is cooler now than it appears,
For yes, at last, the joy is here:
A Kid's Connection has moved in!
I stumbled in, without regret,
And saw it there, the whole darn set
Of Crystal Bugz for me to get,
An unexpected, true Pez win.

Then it was to Party Tree
For costumes for the two doggies,
But what is this? Oh mercy me!
Another set of Pez to find!
I found them each, yes, one and all,
The Heroes gave their noble call,
And I was utterly enthralled
That all this Pez was to be mine.

This is it, I thought aloud,
Never had I felt so proud,
Much more Pez than fate allowed,
But I was wrong, now this I know.
For in the back of that same store,
I somehow found that there was more
The Funky Faces, what a score!
Another Pez set for the road.

Every now and then I stray
And think about that magic day
When so much Pez had come my way
And I was quite beside myself
Was it the rush that it had seemed?
Was it the stuff of many dreams?
No, it was real, though quite extreme,
A day relived upon a shelf.

Pez Haiku #31

What could be better
Than all the Pez in the world?
Finding just one more.
