Welcome
to Pezhead Monthly!
This
past month I had some friends over for the first time. Yes,
we had a Wii party, and yes, we drank to an embarrassing
degree (okay, I drank to an embarrassing degree).
But more importantly, I also got to show off my Pez collection!
As they quickly learned, seeing it in pictures just doesn't
do it justice. They were quite amazed, including at my diligence
in keeping nearly every receipt for every Pez purchased
since 2003 (hey, lay off man, it's not like I keep toenail
clippings). However, I can only hope that I didn't permanently
scare them away.
As far as this month's issue of Pezhead Monthly,
I am going to go on record in saying that this is the best
issue in a long time, and perhaps the best issue ever. There,
I said it. I proclaim this mainly due to the debut of PezTube,
a new feature highlighting Pez odes in video format. As
you'll see, we kick off this feature with one heck of a
contribution. Also in this issue is a photo essay examining
the connection between Pez and video games, and bringing
us home is some Pez Poetry and the Pez Almost-Quote.
It's
hard to believe that Pezamania 18 is less than 2 months
away. I have been so busy lately that it's largely been
in the back of my mind. But it's comin' on like a hurricane!
And I am sure that it will receive a mention or two in next
month's issue.
Thanks
for reading, and see you next month!

Dispensing
With Video Games: A Pezhead Monthly Photo Essay top
of page | cover page
There's
no denying that video games play a significant role in contemporary
culture, alongside more traditional media such as TV, music,
and movies. For instance, the recent video game release
Grand Theft Auto IV took in $500 million during its
first week alone.
And
when you stop and think about it, Pez has been an integral
part of video games for a long time as well. Don't believe
me? Think I'm using a cheat code? Then may I humbly present
the following photographic evidence of the long and illustrious
relationship between Pez and video games.

Have
you ever looked at the bricks from the popular puzzle
game Tetris?
I mean, really looked at them?
O
irony of ironies,
that Frogger's life was almost cut down down by a truck
carrying the very thing that makes life worth living.

In
Grand Theft Auto IV, Niko Bellic is just trying
to share some Pez with fellow Liberty City residents. Is
that so wrong? (Also check out last month's "Grand
Pez Score" game cover)

Who
can ever forget
the strawberry Pez level of Pac-Man?

True
story: the colorful bricks in Super Mario Bros.
also fit quite well in a Pez dispenser.

And
finally, what happens when
Super Mario is jonesing for a Pez fix? Roll your mouse over
the below image to find out!

exclusive interview with Super
