Pez
Haiku #36
Do April
showers
Bring May flowers? I hope they
At least bring some Pez.
April
Fools
Two
years ago I pulled a prank
I took my friend's fish from their tank
When he came home, he got upset-
The tank was empty, floor was wet
He followed the trail down the hall,
And in the sink he found them all.
"Who did this?" he asked, "That's so uncool!"
"It was me," I said, "it's April Fools!"
Last
year I raised the stakes a bit,
My victim not expecting it.
I ordered pizzas, fully stacked,
Seventeen to be exact.
They came at once right to his door,
He had to pay and pay some more.
"April Fools!" I said out loud,
"I'll get you back," he quickly vowed.
Then
last week I came home late,
The day was long but it was great-
Until I came into that room
And all my Pez was gone, the doom!
"O cruel gods!" I said through tears.
My friends erupted into cheers.
So to them all, I owe my thanks:
I've learned my lesson, no more pranks.

"Give
me your tired, your poor, your huddled Pez dispensers
still in packages, yearning to breathe free."
